Rate Increase Effective April 1, 2026

As then Board President Alan Wasson reported at our October 11, 2025 annual meeting, a rate adjustment would be needed in 2026 due to a substantial increase in the cost of power from our power suppliers, coupled with inflationary pressures and increases to materials and equipment. The Board of Directors goal was to do the rate adjustments in two steps, to lessen the impact all at once. Effective January 1, 2026 the demand (kW) rate increased by $0.75 per kW for all rate classes. Effective April 1, 2026 the energy (kWh) rate will increase by 5% for all rate classes.

2026 Big Flat Electric and Trade School Scholarships

$500.00 Big Flat Electric Scholarship - To be eligible, the applicant’s primary residence must be served by Big Flat Electric. Please complete and return to Big Flat Electric along with a copy of your high school transcript.

$1000.00 Trade School Scholarship - To be eligible, the applicant must be affiliated with a Big Flat Electric service. Applicant must be a senior in high school, already attending a trade school, or going back to school for a trade to be eligible.

2026 BASIN ELECTRIC SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship Applications are now available for dependent children of:

• Member-cooperative employees
• Member-cooperative consumers

The Basin Electric Scholarship Program will award more than 150 scholarships in 2026.

The Cooperative Member Employee Dependent Scholarship are $1,000 each.
The Cooperative Member Consumer Dependent Scholarship amount has increased to $2,500. Each member cooperative may choose to award the full amount to one recipient or split it between two recipients.

Applicants must return their scholarship submittal requirements to the Big Flat Electric Office no later than February 13, 2026.

MONTANA ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES’ ASSOCIATION

2026 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Montana Electric Cooperatives’ Association will award four scholarships (one in each district) in the amount of $500 each. The scholarships are funded by individual contributions to the Memorial Scholarship Program.

In order to apply for the scholarship, applicants, parents or guardians must be a member of an electric cooperative and the cooperative must be a member of Montana Electric Cooperatives’ Association. All applications must be returned to the local electric cooperative in the applicants’ community.

Applicants must return their application form, transcripts and letters of reference to their local cooperative by March 6, 2025.
